Our trip departed from Omaha and we sped down to Lincoln where we stopped at Indigo Bridge Book Store for a cup of joe and a quick walk through the wonderful array of books from both local and national authors. We loved how this was set up by genre with recommendations from employees. From there, we hit the road and headed towards Grand Island. We climbed through tunnels on at the state park grounds and got a box of treats from the Enchanted Bakery. Although many stops were planned for the day, we realized that Sundays are a day of rest for many passport stop owners. On the byway, we enjoyed the beautiful rolling hills outside our window and were lucky enough to explore Happy Jack Chalk Mine as well as Bootleg Breweries. That night, we stayed at Ft. Robinson and got up early to drink coffee and attempt to beat the high score at Pac Man in Chadron at The Bean Broker. Getting out of Omaha and across my state was the best decision I have made in a long time.
