My husband and I recently ventured from our home in Norfolk to the western part of the state on our self-entitled “West Coast Swing” trip. We stayed in Valentine the first night, then went out through Chadron and to Scottsbluff on the second day, then through Ogallala and North Platte on the third day, and finally through Kearney and Grand Island on the way home. We hit every passport stop alone the way that we could and even did several things not on the passport including the wildlife preserves near Valentine, Carhenge, and the Scottsbluff Monument. We had such of a fantastic time! I’m from Nebraska and had never gone to several of these places. What I came away with was such a renewed sense of state pride! I feel like the state of Nebraska gets such a bad rap as being boring to drive through or only having cornfields. The natural beauty and skies are unmatched, there are incredible things to do if you go out and do them, and the people are unmatched! I’m so proud to be from Nebraska and this just reminded me of it!
