The Callaway sign on the edge of Broken Bow has always called to me on my many trips down Highway 2. After only a few miles on this road we realized it was a manmade roller coaster. Shotgun Annie’s was well worth the drive through some of the best looking cornfields in the state. We stopped for lunch on a weekday and were treated to good food, some lovely antiques and a bit of western décor.
The booth behind us held 3 young farmers, in for lunch, who were doing their best to get a rise out of our waitress. It was entertaining to listen to an independent Nebraska girl keep up with their banter. Lunch and a show in a fun setting, it doesn’t get any better than that.
