Additional Ways to Engage in NTTW

Offer behind-the-scenes tours to community leaders, tourism stakeholders, and elected officials to highlight your destinations, emphasizing the importance of tourism.

Communities should meet with local stakeholders and elected officials, introducing them to the frontline workers who are branding your destinations and delivering the experiences that visitors will remember. Coordinate exclusive behind-the-scenes tours at attractions, hotels, breweries/wineries, or restaurants. Emphasize the importance of the industry, sharing insights into new plans or developments in your area. Raise appreciation for the industry by encouraging influential individuals to experience their community through the lens of a tourist.

Create and promote a hospitality award to the industry members in your area (community or district)

Awarding an outstanding tourism industry member can go a long way. Recognizing hard workers for their time and efforts will make them feel valued and encourage them to continue providing outstanding service. Consider the various individuals who are representing your destination and what they're doing to make your destination a place where visitors want to return. Take to social media to share their stories and encourage the community to thank them for all that they do.
