Omaha Tribe 221th Annual Powwow

Name: 221st Annual Hede’ Wachi (Omaha Nation Powwow) 

Dates: Thursday, August 21 through Sunday, August 24, 2025

Location: Little Warrior Park, Macy, Nebraska – within the Omaha Reservation

This powwow is recognized as the oldest documented continuous celebration in the United States, with deep roots in tribal and Plains traditions 

Grand Entry: Featured ceremonial opening with drumming, singing, and dancers of all ages in traditional regalia each day.

Dance & Drum Competitions: Contests across categories such as Traditional, Grass, Fancy Feather, Jingle, Fancy Shawl, and more, with divisions for age groups from Tiny Tots to Golden Age dancers.

• The Grass Dance, originating in warrior societies of the Plains—including the Omaha—is frequently showcased, noted for its flowing fringe regalia and unique movements 

Drum Contests: Combined Northern & Southern drum groups compete for top prizes, drawing powerhouse voices and strong competition
