Nebraska Tourism Teams Up with Brand USA to Showcase Western Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (May 13, 2014)—The Nebraska Tourism Commission is teaming up with Brand USA to highlight spots in Western Nebraska on their upcoming 2014 MegaFam Tour on May 18 and 19. Nebraska Tourism partners with Brand USA to help gain targeted international exposure for Nebraska's Tourism destinations. Tour participants include 14 top travel agents from the UK and Ireland who want to become familiar with US attractions for their clients.

Nebraska Tourism Commission Development Consultant, Micheal Collins, worked with Brand USA to set up the Nebraska portion of the Meet the Mountains Tour. Collins explained, "Brand USA was so excited about the opportunities that we could offer in Western Nebraska that they decided to stay longer and see more than they originally planned."

Participants will eat lunch at the Emporium Coffeehouse & Café in Scottsbluff, see Scottsbluff National Monument, tour the Wildcat Hills Nature Center, visit Chimney Rock National Historic Site, eat dinner in Scottsbluff at Rosita's and then stay overnight at Monument Inn and Suites in Gering.

On the second day in Nebraska, they will eat breakfast from Sandy's Burritos and the Gering Bakery before heading to Fort Robinson State Park for a tour. After the tour the group will head to Chadron for lunch from the Bean Broker Coffee House before heading on to South Dakota.

"Tours like this give Nebraska's tourism industry an opportunity to expose international audiences to their destinations. They need to experience the destinations in order properly promote it to their clients." said Kathy McKillip, Director of the Nebraska Tourism Commission.

The mission of Brand USA is to encourage increased international visitation to the United States and to grow America's share of the global travel market. In doing so, we aim to bring millions of new international visitors who spend billions of dollars to the United States, creating tens of thousands of new American jobs.
