Beauty and the Burgers

Just when we needed a change of scenery! Hubby and I took a Friday off to head west. We knew we wanted to meet up with a friend and see some sandhills. We also saw beautiful art and had good food with friendly service. A big loop through the Sandhills allows your eyes and mind to rest. Driving from Ogallala to Oshkosh we got glimpses of Lake Mac through the hills and canyons. In Sidney, we not only found we were too early for food at Savor and Grace, but we found an outdoor market, a bike shop, a bike trail and activity all around downtown. Fortunately for our tummies, the burgers at Burgies Bowling were so good! Loved the crispy fries and the friendly service. That place has such a vibe with all the mid-century 1950s paint and style. We took our food to go and sat in the Chappell park where there's a sweet art deco painted building at the town pool. Visual beauty was really the theme of the day with all of the gorgeous murals in and around Oshkosh, the arts district of Ogallala, the Sandhills, and then...! We drove a long loop up to Arthur to see some historic sites and to Tryon to see our friend. That drive between Arthur and Tryon will sooth a worried mind. Then we drove to North Platte for more beauty in design and plating at North 40 Chophouse. What a perfect night where the surroundings and the food were all an experience! They had this piano player on the lounge side who was amazing! I always recommend to everyone I can to get out there and explore. I'm heading back to work refreshed!
