The changing season doesn’t just have to do with the weather. As the leaves drop, so do so many incredible fall foods! Find your favorite seasonal snack throughout Nebraska with many available at your favorite local spot!

What is a better sign of the season than seeing apple everything at the store? Fulfill all of your apple cravings with a trip to Arbor Day Farm where you can indulge in goods from apple cider, apple jam, apple pies and just fresh-picked apples! 

Head to Gretna for all kinds of family fun at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard. Along with apple and pumpkin picking, you’ll find more than 50 attractions, including a corn maze, hayrack rides, haunted attractions and play areas. Then, get your apple treats, like caramel apples from Kelsey’s Sweet Shoppe and cider from the Barrel Cider Barn onsite.

If you’re in Lincoln, Picnic Hill Orchard is the place for apple picking. This U-pick orchard features more than 20 apple varieties. Stop into the onsite market for all kinds of apple goodies, like apple cider donuts, caramel apple cookies, cider, caramel apples and more.

Enjoy the cool weather with a visit to one of the many wineries across the state! With wineries such as Mac's Creek Winery & Brewery in Lexington, you can enjoy an afternoon with friends in a beautiful setting!

Go for a relaxing food and wine experience at St. Paul’s Miletta Vista Winery. Unwind with a glass of red or white while you take in scenic vistas from this hilltop winery.

Visit the Glacial Till Vineyards Cider House & Tasting Room in Ashland. Sit a spell on the rooftop patio as you sip house ciders and wines. Sweeten up the season with your pick of the pies from pumpkin to pecan Nebraskan bakeries and cafes are stocking up on the season’s dessert. For a taste of comfort try a slice at The Farmer’s Daughters Café in Grand Island!

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, Omaha’s Sweet Magnolias Bake Shop is a must. From cookies and cinnamon rolls to donuts and brownies, Sweet Mags has it all. Throughout the fall, you can place custom orders on a variety of pie flavors online or by calling the shop.

For more mouthwatering desserts, look no further than Crystal Café. This South Sioux City truck stop eatery is whipping up pies to die for. Just try your best not to fill up too much on the hearty home cooking plates before dessert!

Consider yourself a craft beer lover? Nebraska is filled to the brim with craft breweries, and many such as Scratchtown Brewing Company in Ord have seasonal beers to celebrate the coming of fall! 

For pizza and award-winning craft beer, stop by Thunderhead Brewing. This Nebraska brewery features tap rooms in Kearney, Wilcox and Axtell. Holdrege’s Lost Way Brewery offers a handful of  unique craft beers, as well as a selection of seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages.

Find your favorite local brewery to relax and have a cold one before the real cold comes.

The true sign of fall is no longer the falling of the leaves, but rather the beginning of pumpkin spice lattes appearing on the menu of your favorite coffee shop. Check out Bean Broker Coffee House & Pub in Chadron or your favorite local shop for your first of the season!

Get your caffeine fix in Lincoln’s historic Haymarket District at Crescent Moon Coffee. Along with locally roasted coffees and espresso drinks, you’ll find tea, beer, wine, cocktails and a menu full of delicious sandwiches, crepes and pastries. With dozens of specialty flavors, Douglas Street Coffee in O’Neill is a favorite for coffee, tea and boba tea, too.

Stop into a local coffee shop, then get out and enjoy the crisp fall weather. 

 

Chili and Cinnamon Rolls

All true Nebraskans know the beauty of pairing chili and cinnamon rolls together! Try the combination at one of the many Runza locations across the state to warm even the coolest of days.

Along with Runza, you’ll find this Nebraska staple at a couple local Lincoln eateries. Tina’s Café offers down-home cooking, from fried fish baskets and chicken strips to a variety of burgers and a hearty breakfast menu. You’ll also find homemade chili paired with massive cinnamon rolls.

Take this unique pairing up a notch at Leadbelly. Located in the Haymarket District, Leadbelly offers the Full Leaded Jacket: a chili cheese burger with bacon, a fried egg and a cinnamon roll as the bun.
